Gibbs-White Penalty Deepens West Ham Crisis as Forest Snatch Late Win

Nottingham Forest boosted their survival hopes with a dramatic late comeback win over West Ham United at a sparsely populated London Stadium. West Ham led early in the second half but had a goal by Crysencio Summerville ruled out, a turning point that shifted momentum. Forest equalised quickly through Nicolás Domínguez before goalkeeper Alphonse Areola’s clumsy challenge on Morgan Gibbs-White led to a VAR-awarded penalty. Gibbs-White converted in the 89th minute to seal the win.

The result leaves West Ham winless in 10 matches and entrenched in relegation trouble, with defensive frailty and poor organisation persisting under Nuno Espírito Santo. Forest, managed by Sean Dyche, were far from fluent but showed resilience to end a four-game losing run, while West Ham’s growing apathy and internal frustration were laid bare by fan protests and post-match criticism from senior players.
