Plans to stage a Serie A match between AC Milan and Como in Perth have been abandoned.
The game would have been the first major European league fixture played outside its home country.
Serie A said the cancellation followed unacceptable late demands from the Asian Football Confederation.
Those conditions created financial risks and logistical complications for Australian authorities and the league.
Serie A president Ezio Simonelli said the requests made playing the match impossible.
The fixture had been moved because the San Siro will host Winter Olympics events.
Uefa had reluctantly approved the plan, seeing it as a chance to promote Italian football abroad.
However, disputes over officiating control proved a major obstacle.
The decision follows a similar reversal by La Liga over plans to stage a match in the United States.
