68 Pizza Hut Restaurants to Close After UK Franchise Falls Into Administration

The company operating Pizza Hut’s UK restaurants has entered administration, leading to the closure of 68 branches across the country — from Finchley Lido in London to Carlisle and Rhyl — along with 11 delivery-only sites.

The closures put 1,210 jobs at risk, though a rescue deal has preserved 64 restaurants and safeguarded 1,276 positions.

DC London Pie, which ran Pizza Hut’s dine-in venues under a franchise agreement, appointed administrators from FTI Consulting on Monday. The chain’s parent company, Yum! Brands — which also owns KFC and Taco Bell — has purchased the remaining UK restaurant operations in a pre-pack administration deal.

FTI joint administrator Matt Callaghan said the deal “provides a stable platform for one of the UK’s best-known dine-in brands” and confirmed that administrators would work to support employees affected by the redundancies.
