Google has announced a new wave of Gemini AI features as part of its latest Pixel hardware launch, bringing more autonomous capabilities directly onto devices.
Central to the update is Magic Cue, a tool for the Pixel 10 series that predicts useful information based on a user’s context. It can surface boarding passes during an airline call, or propose cafés and calendar availability when friends message about plans. Powered by the new Tensor G5 chip, these functions process locally, combining speed with improved privacy.
Industry analysts suggest Google is moving closer to turning phones into proactive AI agents, using data from Gmail, Maps, Calendar and more to act before users even ask.
Pixel 10 Family
The standard Pixel 10 sports a 6.3-inch OLED display and debuts a triple-lens camera system including a 10.8MP telephoto with 5x zoom. Pricing begins at £799 (€899 / $799 / A$1,349).
The Pixel 10 Pro comes in 6.3-inch and 6.8-inch sizes with upgraded lenses, including a 48MP telephoto capable of 10x optical zoom, starting at £999 (€1,099 / $999 / A$1,699).
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold introduces full IP68 water and dust resistance to Google’s foldables, with a camera system similar to the regular Pixel 10. Prices begin at £1,749 (€1,899 / $1,799 / A$2,699).
The Pixel 10 and 10 Pro ship on 28 August, with the Fold arriving 9 October.
AI-Enhanced Photography
Google has also launched Camera Coach, which analyses the scene in real time and suggests ways to adjust frame, light or angle to improve the image.
Pixel Watch 4
The new Pixel Watch 4 brings Gemini to the wrist, acting as a personal health coach through integration with Fitbit. It can deliver tailored sleep and exercise plans, give real-time feedback during workouts and answer health questions in natural language.
The smartwatch has a screen 10% larger than before, supports satellite SOS in the US, and is designed for repairability. Prices start at £349 (€499 / $349 / A$579).
Pixel Buds 2a
Alongside its premium earbuds, Google introduced the lower-cost Pixel Buds 2a. The buds feature active noise cancelling, the Tensor A1 chip and Gemini AI integration for voice assistance.
At £129 (€149 / $129 / A$239), the charging case includes a replaceable battery, though the earbuds cannot be repaired.
Broader Strategy
Google’s latest announcements underline its shift towards embedding Gemini AI deeply into its ecosystem. By extending proactive intelligence across phones, watches and earbuds, the company aims to make its devices act less as tools and more as adaptive assistants.
